National Library Lovers Month

February is National Library Lovers Month

With the dawn of the Electronic Age, researchers and scholars feared the local library would disappear, but libraries have remained. Libraries are no longer depositories for books. Libraries are meeting places, education centers, and …

How I use my public library

I mainly use my library to borrow books, but I also use it for the reasons listed below:

  • Audiobooks: My library offers books on CD and downloadable digital audiobooks. I listen to audiobooks while driving to work.
  • Movies: The library offers movies on VHS and DVD as well as offers a platform like Netflix to watch movies and TV shows.
  • Quiet Atmosphere: I go to the library to find some quiet time away from my house to work.
  • Internet: While seeking quiet time at the library, I use the library’s WiFi.
  • Bookstore: My library has a bookstore attached and all the proceeds go to supporting the library. The books are pre-owned books that have been donated to the library.
  • Meeting Location: The library offers several rooms for meeting study groups and organization meetings.
  • Voting: The library is part of the county library system so the county uses the large meeting room for elections.

Other services offered that I don’t use

The library offers several other services that I don’t use because they are not for my age group. They are:

  • Computer Classes
  • Proctoring for exams
  • Preschool Storytime
  • Senior Adult Program

What do you use for your library for? Name some of the other services your library offers in the comments.
